While Sam is painting a portrait she feel like she's communicating with the subject, even if she's never met them. A portrait is not a photograph ... To her it is a visual trinity comprising the recognisable identity, the hidden identity and there are elements of the artists own self. It's what makes portraits so emotionally challenging and intimate.
Depending on size and design, portraits can be commissioned from $3,000. A good photograph is required.

Size: 610 X 610mm Paddy Bedford came late to painting and is one of my favourite Aboriginal artists. It began the series of black and white portraits of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people who share a connection.
