Portraits
While Sam is painting a portrait she feel like she's communicating with the subject, even if she's never met them. A portrait is not a photograph ... To her it is a visual trinity comprising the recognisable identity, the hidden identity and there are elements of the artists own self. It's what makes portraits so emotionally challenging and intimate.
Depending on size and design, portraits can be commissioned from $3,000. A good photograph is required.
SethSize: 610 X 610mm Seth is paired with Paddy Bedford because as a 5 year old Seth would copy Paddy’s work out of a book I had. Then when Paddy died I painted them together with hope that the next generation would take more interest … | Paddy BedfordSize: 610 X 610mm Paddy Bedford came late to painting and is one of my favourite Aboriginal artists. Because of Seth's artistic interest in Paddy's work, I, in turn, painted both of their portraits with Paddy’s minimalist painting style as the back drop. It began the series of black and white portraits of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people who share a connection. | Dr. Hugh CairnsSize: 760 X 760mm Portrait of Dr Hugh Cairns, professor of Aboriginal rock art, and a world speaker.
