Damien's family had sheep stations covering a vast section of NSW and Victoria, and Damien, as a young man, did his apprenticeship as a shearer. This painting is a memory of Clare Station near Ivanhoe in western NSW. The painting contains many funny cameos and these sum up for Damien the humour needed to sustain one's choice to farm this dry and ancient land.
