Back To The Future
High above Lamington Forest
A great eagle soars above two little frogs,
In spirit he is the watcher, the guardian who makes sure that the sacred ancient laws are not lost.
He understands from his objective height that the little frogs are worried;
Their backs turn away from the great tall buildings, which daily take over the land.
They are afraid that their home is in danger of being swallowed by the hunger of man.
The future, they fear, does not depend on tall buildings and all the pollution they create.
But it does need the trees because they give us fresh air and they protect the soil and give us shade.
Trees also eat up the bad toxins, help create clouds and therefore make rain
Which pours down on our trees, our buildings and soil for the trees to recycle again.
The Story Behind The Painting
I must admit that living in Byron Bay is beautiful. However, up the road
is the Gold Coast and something about the place makes me sad. I can't
help but imagine how pristine it must have been before the concrete was
dumped on it. The land behind the Gold Coast is absolutely stunning and
our bushwalking haven. Binna Burra being our favourite walking place. So
here we have two green tree frogs turning their backs on the development
which is getting scarily close to their home in the hinterland rainforest
of Lamington National Park.
